Monaghan Seniors
Division 2 league consolidated for 2024 despite R7 defeat
The farney girls needed a win against Westmeath to help themstay in division 2 for the next season, alternatively they hopedthat Roscommon would succumb in their final round to assist them should the game not go their way.
And in reality this is what happened – Westmeath had the upper hand throughout the first half with a major on the 20thminute mark from Aoife Cassidy helping their cause. The half time score showed a one point favour for Westmeath’s with a 1-4 to 0-6 mark.
The second half seen Jodie Mc Quillan sprung from the bench and this helped Monaghan’s cause as the latter player scored a much needed goal 12 minutes in, however this was after Westmeath’s Aoife Cassidy raised a second green flag. Monaghan kept up the pressure until the dying minutes, and should not be deflated with a 2pt deficit, as they showed great character throughout
Final score Westmeath 2-10 Monaghan 1-11
